Job Title: Director Finance and Operations 

Level: Senior Management 

Reports to: Program Lead 

Job Type: Annual contract with option of extension to 5 years based on performance 

Location: On-site (Abuja) 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the overall financial management of the project, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, ensuring efficient use of resources
  2. Ensure compliance with all financial and operational regulations set by donors, particularly USAID, including adherence to policies such as FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and AIDAR (USAID Acquisition Regulation
  3. Coordinate monthly requests for funds, based on budget and cash flow projections, to ensure the program has all the necessary funds for the operations
  4. Support the Chief of Party in the management of the project, aligning staff, systems, and other resources with the annual work plan and budget to provide timely, cost effective, responsive, high-quality operations and administrative support within the available resources, and in an environment with adequate internal controls, adhering to contract regulations, and standard operating procedures
  5. Prepare and submit accurate and timely financial reports to donors, ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of project funds
  6. Lead the development of project budgets and monitor expenditures, ensuring alignment with project activities and compliance with donor requirements
  7. Monitor adjustments to the annual project budget and corporate fiscal year whenever required
  8. Develop and implement strong internal control systems to safeguard project assets and ensure compliance with audit requirements, including the management of audits when they occur
  9. Identify potential financial and operational risks, develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks and protect project resources
  10. Oversee procurement processes, ensuring that goods and services are purchased in line with procurement policies and that all logistics operations are effectively managed
  11. Contribute to maintaining teamwork, discipline, sound work relationships and productivity
  12. Represent the project and Sydani Group at key forums, advocating for project objectives and promoting best practices
